Hello and thank-you the excellent films over the years. It is great to see such a variety of quality films being shown in Cape breton.
If possible there is a suggestion that the community here would love to see.
TAKE THIS WALTZ directed by Sarah Polley (who loved it here and is planning on future production) would be a community favorite for many reasons. Cape Breton staff and technicians worked on the film. Over 100 extras worked on the scenes at the Fortress. Filmed in the town of louisbourg. Filmed at the Fortress Louisbourg. Many suppliers have heped with logistics etc.
It would show that we are interested in our productions filmed here. It was shown in Halifax,Toronto etc.
The show is up for two awards this month. If shown it would be excellent for the film series as it has cape breton content.
Hi Claude, and thanks for the excellent suggestion. We tried hard to get TAKE THIS WALTZ for the winter season, but it will not be released for theatrical distribution until May. (The screenings in Halifax and Toronto were festival screenings, and the film series is not eligible for those.) If Empire doesn’t brings it here this summer, we will almost certainly show it in the fall. Very sorry we can’t do it sooner. — Parker
Hi Parker. Happy New Year. Just want to make a suggestion for a future film–Juan of the Dead, a new Cuban Zombie film that has been shown at TIFF, I think. I’d love to see it and it’s been getting hot reviews. (with subtitles, of course). Thanks.
