The Cape Breton Island Film Series began in February, 2003, with two sold-out screenings of BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE. Since then, we’ve shown a total of 177 top-quality, independent films.
All screenings take place Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. sharp at the Empire Theatres Studio 10, 325 Prince Street, Sydney. We screen two, 13-week series each year: in the fall, starting on the second Thursday in September; and in the winter and spring, starting on the third Thursday in January, and running through mid-April.
A season pass to an entire 13-week season costs $80, tax included. Single seats are $9. Students pay just $6.
The Empire Theatre is accessible. Persons in wheelchairs pay the normal fee, but an accompanying attendant is admitted without charge.
Each fall, the film series presents O What A Party, our annual benefit for L’Arche Cape Breton, This event includes a film at the usual time, followed by a dinner party with live music. Special pricing applies.
