Jan 28 – The Road

by Parker on January 22nd, 2010

Colmac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel comes to the big screen with a dazzling cast: Charlize Theron, Robert Duvall, Guy Pearce, and newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee.

A father and his son, “the Man” and “the Boy,” wander through a post-apocalyptic American landscape after some unspecified disaster has killed off most of humanity. A parable of mankind’s penchant for self-destructiveness, The Road imagines a future in which men are pushed to the worst and the best they are capable of—a future in which a father and his son are sustained by love.

“In this haunting portrait of America as no country for old men or young, Hillcoat — through the artistry of Mortensen and Smit-McPhee — carries the fire of our shared humanity and lets it burn bright and true.”  – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone.

The Road plays one show only 7 p.m., Thursday, January 28, at the Empire Theatres Studio 10, Sydney.
